Canal Dreaming

Summer, early evening.

In August 2024, I had the pleasure of taking the Little Estuaries to the Canal Dream Art Festival in a performance, atop the Word on the Water barge, with the wonderful Soft Shadow.

Their mesmerising saxophone-breathed soundscapes were the sonic seabed to my figure in search, a body in the sphere. Our collaboration ended—almost entirely unexpectedly—with me diving into the canal, total immersion in the terrain.

The festival was a soul-charging reminder of what is possible when a few inspired people (I’m looking at you, Chuntian Hu) open up a profit-free, borderless space where community and collaboration can do their magic. Thank you.
